  1. In a tie anyway. Graham McTavish, who plays Dwalin, is also 6’2″ as is Armitage. John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) is 6’1″. It’s a bit odd that no actual dwarves play the dwarves in these films, but it wouldn’t work with the system of adjusted heights they used as an effect, to mix normal-sized and little people in the same group.

    • According to IMDB, Richard is 6′ 2½” (1.89 m), while Graham McTavish is 6′ 2″ (1.88 m). Moreover, in a recent interview Richard mentioned that he is in fact 6′ 3″. Related to the second part of your comment, as far as I know, Peter Jackson used also real dwarf doubles in the movie, as you can see from the following links: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/30/hobbit-scale-doubles_n_4518898.html and http://imgur.com/a/pthXN

      • Yes, I know there were dwarf doubles, but if you used persons of actual small stature in the same shots as normal-sized actors who had dialog, it all falls apart. The company used groups of actors who were all within a seven inch height range of each other, whether it was the dwarf group, hobbits, or humans and elves.

I wouldn’t accept IMDB’s word on anything. They are a volunteer assembled database, and it’s full of mistakes on credits, bios and other info. I tried to get them to correct MY credits and data for years, but finally gave up in disgust
